Bonjour!

The Alliance Française de Houston was founded in 1923, and is the center of  French language and culture in Houston.  A privately-funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, it is one of over 1,000 Alliances in 138 countries around the world, offering not only comprehensive language instruction in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but also a varied and dynamic cultural experience. Members are entitled to monthly screenings of French films with English subtitles, lectures, art and photography exhibits, receptions and concerts, and have access to our library and vidéothèque.  We offer a Vacation/Study Program in La Napoule in the South of France.  Wine tastings and cooking classes round out the cultural experience.   Each year, the Alliance awards 5 scholarships for study in France to university students and high school teachers.  We are affiliated with the Alliance  Française de Paris,  The US national headquarters, the Délégation Générale,

is located in Washington D.C.

Merci, Oprah!

The Alliance Française network in the U.S. was mentioned in Oprah Winfrey’s O List! (O, December 2007.)  Among “the gift certificates everyone wants,” she recommends the Alliance for “someone who has always wanted to...pick up a new language.”  What an endorsement!  We’re happy to have made her list of favorite things!
